AUDUSD Day’s Range: 0.73450 – 0.74042

U.S. job openings reached a new record high in July while layoffs rose moderately, indicating that employers unable to find workers was the main reason for last month’s sharp slowdown in hiring rather than weak demand for labour. The JOLTS report showed an increase of job openings from 749,000 to 10.93 million on the last day of July – the highest level since 2000.

FOMC Member Williams’s speech yesterday indicates that if the U.S. economy then the Fed may start to reduce the pace of its asset purchase later this year. FOMC members are participating in interest rate voting to determine appropriate monetary policy measures and evaluate the risk associated with long-term goals including price stability and economic growth. Upcoming China August CPI and PPI will be released today, those data accounts for the majority of overall inflation. The ECB policymaker Robert Holzmann said that the ECB could tighten policy sooner than expected as inflation pressures could prove to be persistent rather than transitory.

U.S. equity dropped as investors weigh the global economic risks including the resurgence of the Covid-19 Delta variant and the central bank’s tapering assets. The NASDAQ 100 experienced its biggest drop in two weeks, with mega-caps including Apple Inc. and Facebook Inc contributed the most to the decline. The Dow Jones Industrial Average continued to drop from last month’s all-time high. The S&P 500 weakened for a third day since it closed at a record on the 2nd of September. Investors turned cautious on U.S. equities and began to downgrade them on growth risks. Investors are worried that the world is ready for asset tapering even as inflation is accelerating due to a shortage of supply.
